System of Government in Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic with a multi-party system. The head of state is the president, who is directly elected by the people for a five-year term. Legislative power is exercised by the National Assembly, consisting of 240 members. Executive power is led by the prime minister and the Council of Ministers.
